12 of my favourite homemade beauty masks to make a spa day at home.

I know, these days the word “mask” brings to mind the pandemic of covid-19, but before that, there have been beauty masks, with beneficial properties that deeply nourish the skin.

We’ve all spent a lot of money on face masks from time to time. Masks that promise deep hydration, cleansing and even total transformation. Not to mention that usually they belong to well-known brands, so we have paid dearly for them.

I have news for you: you don’t have to empty your credit card for a beauté.

The secret of always having an impressive skin, even if you can’t believe it, is hidden in your kitchen.

There are so many homemade beauty masks that work as fast treatments for rejuvenation, cleansing, tightening, hydration – for any action that best suits our needs and our age.

So, make beauty masks, the protagonist of your beauty routine as quarantines and social distancing give us the perfect excuse for extra pampering.

How can you do that? Have you ever heard the expression DIY?

DIY, means do it yourself and it has been a big trend in the world of beauty in the last years.

However, due to the current COVID-19 crisis, DIY has been taken on a whole other  dimension as it is the best way to create something by yourself, without giving in to the beautiful packaging of beauty products, but also without even leaving your home.

Proper and regular facial care is an important element for maintaining a youthful, firm and glowing skin. That’s why I would suggest, to make a daily or weekly list of your beauty routines, now that you have time. Don’t forget that beauty is a choice.

Before doing any beauty masks, a good idea would be to start with a good facial cleanser, with the right product for your skin type. You see no mask works, if applied to a face that has not been thoroughly cleansed.

That’s why I have prepared for you the simplest and most timeless beauty recipes, perfect for face and body, without spending more than € 10.

If you prefer natural treatments when it comes to skin care, all you have to do is choose one of  my economical and favorite effective DIY masks that can be found below. The ingredients are very simple and I’m sure that you already have them in your kitchen.

Moisturizing face mask

You will need: 1/2 cup strained yogurt (full fat) and 1/2 cucumber

Instructions: Peel and grate the cucumber and squeeze to remove the juices. Then mix it with the yogurt.

How to apply: Gather your hair – ideally put a ribbon. On a clean face (and neck) -washed with warm water to open the pores of the skin and wiped with a clean towel, apply the mask. Leave the mask on for about 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Gently wipe and dab the skin. Complete your treatment by applying the day or night cream. Repeat this rejuvenating mask every 15 days.

Vitamin C, which is high in lemon, also provides a protective shield against sun’s harmful rays, treating photo aging. Finally, yogurt makes the skin brighter, improving its overall appearance.

Facial peeling

You will need: 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions: First put the sugar and salt in a blender. Add the lemon juice and blend until it becomes a thick mixture.

How to apply: Due to the presence of lemon as an ingredient in this peeling, it should be applied preferably at night. This is because lemon often causes skin photosensitivity when applied and then exposed to the sun. Gather your hair – ideally put a ribbon.

On a clean face that has been washed with warm water to open the pores of the skin and has been wiped clean with a clean towel, apply the mixture. With gentle circular massage movements exfoliate for 3 minutes. Then let it act as a homemade face mask for another 10 minutes. Tightening-Anti-Aging Face Mask No2

ALTERNATIVELY: Bananas, in addition to being a healthy snack, can also be a perfect anti-aging face mask! You will get a wonderful skin, looking younger and much more radiant and hydrated.

You will need: 1/2 banana, 3 tablespoons yogurt and 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions: Firstly blend the banana until it’s completely smooth. Otherwise press it with your fork until it melts. Add the yogurt and honey. Heat the mixture lightly in a saucepan.

How to apply: Gather your hair – ideally put a ribbon. On a clean face washed with warm water to open the pores of the skin and wiped clean with a clean towel, apply the mask as it is warm to your face and neck, being careful not to burn yourself. Let it stand and act for 20-30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Info: Many people suggest that bananas are painless and inexpensive Botox! This fruit is full of potassium, manganese, vitamin B6 and C, which help rejuvenate the skin and hair and slow down the growth of bacteria.

Dry-cracked lips

You will need: 1 tablespoon yogurt, 1/2 tablespoon honey and 5 drops of lemon

Instructions: Mix all the ingredients together.

How to apply: Apply the mixture on the lips for about 5 minutes. Leave the homemade lip moisturizing mask on your lips for 5 minutes, no more. The lemon is acidic and is likely to have a negative effect on your lips if you leave it for longer. Remove the homemade mask to moisturize your lips from your mouth with plenty of warm water.

For even better results, you can put a drop of olive oil after 5 minutes before removing it and rub the mask on the surface of your lips with the toothbrush.

Info: Lemon is rich in acids that accelerate exfoliation, as well as citric acid, which stimulates collagen and restores cell health. Olive oil is in itself a natural, pure material that can give a great deal of lip hydration.

Against the Black circles

You will need: 1/2 potato

Instructions: Put the potato in the freezer for 20 minutes. After cleaning it, mash it in a blender (or grate it on a greater) and divide the mixture into 2 pieces and place it in a tulle. Alternatively, use gauze.

How to apply: Wrap them well so that they become like compresses, and then place them on your eyes for about 20 minutes. Then do not rinse with water, just wipe with a soft, cotton towel. (Caution: Do not allow potato juice to come into contact with the eyes.)

Info: Potato has a whitening effect thanks to the enzyme corticosteroid. At the same time, they have astringent properties – they can help reduce water retention around the eye area. Finally, they have a cooling effect and can really brighten dark circles under our eyes.

Eye mask No2

You will need: 1/2 cucumber

Alternatively: You can make a paste of 1/2 cucumber and follow the same procedure as the potato. Alternatively, you can use makeup remover discs and dip them in the mixture.

If you don’t have enough time to make any of the masks mentioned above, use an egg yolk to moisturize the skin around your eyes every other day. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse. Gently wipe and dab the skin.

Info: This will release the extra accumulated fluid around the eyes, leading to swelling of the skin, and will allow your eyes to feel refreshed and refreshed.

Against fatigue – legs

You will need: 1 glass of apple cider vinegar and 1 handful of sea salt (preferably thick)

Instructions: Put your feet in a bucket and pour lukewarm water until it just about reaches your ankles. Add the apple cider vinegar and salt and leave for 10 minutes.

Info: Salt and apple cider vinegar have antibacterial abilities. So, in addition to relaxation, they also offer a solution against foot odor.

Hand moisturizing mask

You will need: 1 tablespoon yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey and 3 to 4 drops of lemon juice

Instructions: Mix the mixture well and spread it on your hands.

How to apply: Wait until it dries completely and then keep it for another 5 minutes. Rinse, wipe and gently dab your skin.

Info: Lemon and lactic acid contained in yogurt have the ability to give glowing skin, while honey will instantly soften your skin.

Against cellulite

There is a homemade recipe that has been passed down by word of mouth and from generation to generation, and it’s probably time to try it. If you think that you are not able to correct the image of your buttocks, you are probably wrong.

You will need: 1 cup of grounded coffee beans, 6 tbsp. coconut oil or olive oil, 3 tbsp. coarse salt or sugar and 1 empty jar

Instructions: If you make coffee at home, please, don’t throw away the dregs! Use the remains from used grounded coffee (filter coffee, greek, turkish, anything but instant that completely dissolves into the water). Put all the ingredients together in the jar and mix well.

How to apply: Wet your body with lukewarm water and then massage the affected areas for 5-10 minutes. If you have time, leave it on for another 5 minutes and rinse. Then follow your normal bath/shower routine.

Info: Caffeine is an enemy of cellulite, since when used topically, it provides the skin with antioxidants. Coconut oil is moisturizing and rejuvenating for the skin and coarse salt – like sugar – guarantees effective exfoliation.

By gently massaging the “suffering” cellulite area, you will increase blood flow, making the skin softer and tighter.

Of course, don’t forget that you need a balanced diet (no soft drinks, no preservatives, no sweets) and a simple daily exercise. So, make sure you drink at least 1.5 liters of water daily and exercise 2-3 times a week.
